Teaching Philosophy

I believe learning is an active process that requires an atmosphere of mutual respect. I strive to create a classroom where students are encouraged to think critically about the material, ask questions, and feel that their voices matter. I believe students learn best when they are engaged and provided with the time and environment where they can explore solutions without fear of making mistakes. In the classroom, I encourage my students to question their assumptions, discuss problems with their classmates, and develop creative solutions to topics that matter to them.
